Welcome to my blog!
Hi! I’m Kaylie. And this is my blog. I’m going to tell you how this blog started and then give you a little view into my life.
Back in 2011, I was totally obsessed with blogs about food and cooking. Really, it was somewhere between a tiny bit scary and a coping mechanism for living in Spain. After I moved back to the US, it definitely kept me from some more important things in life like sleeping and studying for major Physiology or Chronic & Acute Disease tests. However, after obsessing over other people’s food blogs, I decided to create my own.
So about me. I have been a vegetarian since December 2008 but have permanently added fish to my diet as of January 2015. Technically, that makes me a pescatarian.
I love smoothies to the extreme. My Magic Bullet is one of my best friends, next to the Keurig.
I’m a wife. My husband and I had been dating for a few weeks shy of 2 1/2 years when he proposed on April Fool’s Day in 2015. He’s a wild child. We wanted to get married on Halloween but settled for end of September. He’s kinda my everything. He also believes in this blog more than I do. If it really takes off, it will be all because of him.
I workout. A lot. My undergraduate degree is in Exercise Science, and I just graduated with my Masters in Nutrition. However, I do this thing called Tone It Up and it has changed my world both socially and physically.
I love the lost art of hand-written letters, preferably in bright colors or the perfect ink pen. I hand-addressed every single wedding invitation. It’s really fun to practice cursive and penmanship. I also love a good book, like the Hunger Games and The Time Traveler’s Wife.
Coral-colored nail polish is my favorite. I also love teal and sparkly red. Really any nail polish.
I have an addiction to TV shows, including Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and How I Met Your Mother. Ideally, I would like to work in a setting like Addison Montgomery does in Private Pracitce. TV shows and dreaming big help balance out the excessive studying.
I like to rock out to Taylor Swift. And no, I don’t feel guilty about it. Her 1989 CD has been in my CD player and played straight for quite some time.
An exciting and amazing new addition to this About section… I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist! It has been my dream for years, and while obtaining this dream was harder than I ever thought possible, I have finally achieved it. I just finished my dietetic internship and am officially Kaylie Teague, MS RDN LDN. If I can do it, you can do it. Just study hard and work harder. I also have a professional website, and you can see it here.
Oh, and no, there’s no meat here. Well, except fish. That is a new category of recipes that I am excited to build! Predominantly and for the first 4 years of this blog’s life, though, it’s been vegetarian recipes all the way around. Even some vegan. Don’t be shy. Vegan food is awesome. And lastly… did you notice a name change? Any die-hard followers may have noticed that this blog went from Skinny Muffin to Kayl Chips. What gives? Well, in college, some people called me Kayl. And as a dietitian, we are all about some leafy kale, so I thought that combining this nickname with my passion would be the perfect new and improved name for this blog.
