The Wop makes me laugh every time. Watching those Vine videos of people cleaning and doing the wop – it’s great. Can’t handle it.
This is a great stress relieve. If you need a good laugh, you should watch it.
Another thing to help relieve stress is a good meal and a beer with your boyfriend. I have been having a hard time adjusting to this new grad school schedule. I’m either surrounded by freshman who think they’re better than me or PhD students who actually are better than me. I’m trying to figure out where my classes are and how to get to the “bus stop” on time and all these shenanigans.
And realizing I have 3 more years of school? Don’t even get me started. But the boyfriend has been crazy unbelievably supportive and this post is a shoutout to him.
He loves burgers. And not only does he like beef burgers, he now likes bean burgers. Win! This is the perfect combination of manly meal meets vegetarian.
I added a little Texas Pete to this because he loves his hot sauce, and I added some cheese because we all know I’m a little addicted to cheese. First step is admitting it, right?
Slap this bad boy onto a mixed greens salad (and top with some cottage cheese!) and you have a hearty veggie meal. Or, man-style, stick it on a bun, add some ketchup and hot sauce, and have a salad on the side. Yes, men eat salads, too.
Red Bean and Rice Burgers
1 can red beans, drained and rinsed
1 c brown rice, cooked
1/3 c Italian breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp garlic pepper
Pinch of dried basil and oregano
1 tsp Texas Pete
1/4 c Mexican cheese
1. Mash red beans in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients to bowl and combine well.
2. Form mixture into patties and set on a plate.
3. Spray a saute pan with Pam and set burgers on medium low heat. Cook, flipping occasionally, until slightly browned on both sides.
4. Eat on a bun or over a salad.
